Kerrigan Lowdermilk

Music Monday … Take Me Home to Ireland

After a while I have a new #MusicMonday for you today. All my exams for this semester are done and I can go back to all the stuff I work on besides my studies – plus this semester this also means: Back to listening to things other than works by Isabel Mundry, Elena Kats-Chernin and Philip Glass which I was doing of my most recent exam.

Anyway – in a lucky coincedence the video I’m going to share with you popped up in my youtube-subscription-box when my ears were opening up again to new things. And as the fangirl of Kerrigan and Lowdermilk I am – I hit play.

Andy Mientus and Margo Seibert (who I LOVED in Rocky!) might help a little bit but I think I’m in love with the folky-kind of pathos in this song. And I’m not even embarrassed. 😉

A little bit of cheesy pathos is GREAT sometimes.

Music Monday … Avalanche

This is a totally fake Music Monday, because basically: It isn’t Monday. Yesterday there were so many things going on (I’m back to Hebrew class for the next two weeks! Every day from 10am to 1pm) – and then I had to take my mattress off of my bunk bed since it got picked up today and I got my new one.
Okay, let’s see what I got int he wings for our belated Music Monday this week.

I just recently returned to an ‘old’ favourite song of mine. I first heard Avalanche when I bought the Kerrigan-Lowdermilk-CD “Live”, which I also featured in my post about my top 5 musical (theatre) recordings of 2013. And I mean – Lindsay Mendez is worth every single listen you give.
It’s a totally gorgeous song, it has its drama and its long notes and everything you desire. You can totally feel it moving and falling and can we just take a minute to talk about her performance which is unreal?!

What was your song for the beginning of the week?

I’d be thrilled to read about it. 🙂

Music Monday … TwentySomething

I LOVE Kerrigan and Lowdermilk’s music and I really wonder why I haven’t featured them in my Music Monday series already! I did feature their album Kerrigan-Lowdermilk Live in my Top 5 (Musical Theatre) Recordings of 2013 though. TwentySomething is a song not included on the album and as you can tell from the publishing date on Youtube it’s a rather ‘old’ song. I know that when I first got hooked by their music it was that song which played on my computer for hours! I remeber (or maybe I just make that up) spending complete Sundays listening to that song. – Yes, as my regular readers already can tell I’m getting quite easily obsessed with some things….

Anyway….I simply LOVE how that the beat suddenly get really intense about halfway through the song.

And I mean: Caissie Levy.

What are you listening to today?
