About Theaterkind

In "The Untold Stories of Broadway, Pt 1" Jennifer Tepper describes in the first sentences how she would respond to the question "What do you want to be when you grow up" with "I want to be the theatre". Yeah, right, she wanted to be the theatre. Actually that was what made me tear up in the beginning of the book – because somehow this sentence was so close to my heart it's not even funny anymore.

Other than that: I’m Lisanne, on the internet know as Theaterkind. I recently graduated from HMT Leipzig’s graduate program in dramaturgy focussing on musical theatre (mainly classical) with a thesis on sexworkers in American musical of the 20th century.

I dream of the day when I can say I’m a dramarg for (new) musicals. And a translator. And a musical theatre scholar just as Stacy Wolf is, who’s my idol. Because she has written “Changed For Good. A Feminist History of the Broadway Musical”.

Everyone, go and read it.

From season 2016/2017 she will be an assistant with the Hessische Staatsballett in Wiesbaden, Germany.

Eben weil sie “Changed For Good. A Feminist History of the Broadway Musical” geschrieben hat.

Dramaturgs don’t need pictures. But nonetheless, here is one of me.
